LOS ANGELES — Over the last few weeks, the team behind the first-ever documentary on the “Twilight” phenomenon has come to MTV News to unveil the initial details of their movie, as well as its one-sheet and teaser trailer. Now, they have even bigger news for Stephenie Meyer fans eagerly awaiting their flick: In a surprise move, Summit Home Entertainment has acquired the rights to distribute “Twilight in Forks.”

Photo Courtesy of TwilightInForks.comMTV News has learned that the studio behind the “Twilight” movies has spent the last several days negotiating with director Jason Brown and producers York Baur and Peter Cowles to distribute their independent film about the tiny Washington town that inspired a phenomenon. Summit plans to release the documentary in conjunction with the “New Moon” DVD release, both of which will hit stores in early 2010.

Although the news will postpone the film’s release by a few months, it’s a natural fit for the doc, whose full title is “Twilight in Forks: The Saga of the Real Town.” Brown and Baur were very visible at June’s “Summer School in Forks” symposium, where they shot many of the interviews for the film — a for-the-fans exploration into where “Twilight” ends, Forks begins, and an increasingly blurry line exists between the two.

“One of the things that you’ll see in the film is how vampires actually relate to Forks, and whether there’s some truth to the characters that you’re familiar with,” three-time Emmy winner Brown told MTV recently about the film, which was shot with high-definition cameras to capture the region’s unique, rain-soaked beauty. “You’ll see shots of the forest and some shots of signs about vampires. … You’ll meet a real-life Bella and a real-life Alice that are in Forks.”

The “Twilight in Forks” team will be sticking with plans to unveil exclusive footage from the film on Saturday at a special screening in Forks to celebrate Stephenie Meyer Day, as previously announced. Keep checking back with MTV News for coverage of that event, as well as more upcoming news on “Twilight in Forks” and “New Moon.” And don’t forget to tune in to the VMAs on Sunday to see Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner present a never-before-seen extended trailer from the “Twilight” sequel.

SANTA MONICA, California — Last week, the creators of the first-ever documentary about Stephenie Meyer’s hugely successful “Twilight” vampire phenomenon revealed the existence of their movie and unveiled its poster. Now, MTV is the only place where you can see the first footage released from the buzzed-about flick.

“One of the things that you’ll see in the film is how vampires actually relate to Forks, and whether there’s some truth to the characters that you’re familiar with,” explained director Jason Brown when he handed over the film’s hot-off-the-presses first trailer. “This teaser gives you a glimpse at that.”

Focusing on Forks, Washington — the real-life tiny logging town where Meyer imagined a world of vampires, werewolves and love-struck humans — “Twilight in Forks” visits Forks High School, explores the Quileute tribe, and investigates the phenomenon of Meyer’s saga by talking to people whose lives may have influenced the characters — or vice versa.

“You’ll see shots of the forest and some shots of signs about vampires,” explained Brown, who used high-def cameras to capture the area’s gorgeous rain-forest-like landscape. “You’ll meet a real-life Bella and a real-life Alice that are in Forks.”

If you’ve been to Forks, you know that once you step into the tiny, rain-soaked town, it feels as if any of Meyer’s characters could walk up to you at any moment. If you don’t feel like driving for endless hours, flying on a puddle jumper or simply can’t afford the trip, “Twilight in Forks” hopes to make you feel like you’ve been there. And if you have made the trek, the film aims to serve as the vacation video you wish you were talented enough to cut together with your iMovie.

“There’s a real-life Bella working at the Fork’s Outfitters in Forks,” marveled Brown.

“We also ran into someone who was actually getting vampire tooth implants at a dentist,” the film’s producer, York Baur, said of the way that the townspeople have embraced Meyer’s saga. “People [love ‘Twilight’ so much] that they are doing some stuff that’s out there.”

Out on DVD on October 15, a month before “New Moon” hits theaters, “Twilight in Forks” will chronicle all the town’s dedication, devotion and dark secrets. You can pre-order the film from Amazon, or check out the movie’s official site for more information.

I gotta admit, umm… *NERD ALERT*… I’s kinda ‘cited! LOL

‘Twilight In Forks’: Our EXCLUSIVE Reveal Of The Documentary’s Poster

By now, Stephenie Meyer fans everywhere have begun buzzing about “Twilight in Forks,” the first-ever documentary about the “Twilight” phenomenon. I’m particularly excited about the movie because I visited the tiny little logging town not too long ago, and it was during that trip that I initially met the crew and heard about the project.

Now, as part of the first step in producer York Baur and director Jason Brown’s countdown to the film’s release, the duo have given us the “one sheet” for the flick. So, take a minute and check out the cool art after the jump that will grace the DVD and posters promoting “Twilight in Forks” when it hits stores (and Amazon) October 15th.

I know, I know — if you’re a hardcore Twilighter, you’re probably thinking “I know everything about the world of Edward and Bella already.” Well, I felt the same way at first, but while these guys were filming up and around the real-life Forks, they discovered some things that might open some eyes to the very origins of the “Twilight” saga itself.

“One of the things that makes ‘Twilight’ so unique is how much time Stephenie spent, as almost a journalistic approach, researching [the town’s details] for that original story,” explained Baur. “[‘Twilight’] is about the story [of Bella and Edward] itself, but along the way she documents every nuance of the town so accurately – the names of streets, the distances between things, the actual structures and the businesses. Every detail is in the book, and it’s actually there in the town.”

“An interesting fact about Stephenie’s research is that it’s really accurate — and of course, if you talk to her publicist and herself, they would say she had never been to Forks before she wrote the book,” explained Brown, setting up one of the topics they delve into for the film. “There’s actually a little bit of debate about that that, and it turns up in our movie.”

‘Twilight’ Documentary Sheds Light On The Real Forks

‘We wanted to expose this really cool and unique area to the world,’ producer York Baur says of ‘Twilight in Forks.’

SANTA MONICA, California — If you’re like most Twilighters, you have a wall calendar with the November 20 release date of New Moon marked by a giant X, a star or two, and four or five red circles around it. But if you can’t wait that long, now you have a new date to mark down — and a new “Twilight“-related movie to look forward to.

“The full title is ‘Twilight in Forks: The Saga of the Real Town,’ ” explained producer York Baur, revealing details exclusively to MTV about the soon-to-be-released flick, whose existence has remained a secret — until now. “It’s a documentary about the town and the impact of the ‘Twilight’ phenomenon on the town. It’s a DVD that is shot in full HD, and it’s going to be available to the public on October 15.”

From now until that date, Baur and director Jason Brown will be unveiling exclusive sneak peeks of the film on MTV.com every Tuesday — continuing to lift the veil on the first-ever “Twilight” documentary.

“Everybody that’s a fan of ‘Twilight’ has a vision of what Forks is like,” Brown said of the real-life Washington town where Stephenie Meyer set her vampire-romance saga. “In the movie, we get a peek at that. But in fact, they didn’t shoot the [‘Twilight’] movie in Forks. So we’ve gone actually out to Forks. And you’ll get a chance to meet some of the real people and see some of the real places that are featured in the story.”

Shot with a beautiful, natural look that harnesses the massive woodlands and entrancing beaches of the small logging town, the flick is funny and sincere, enlightening and more than a bit mysterious — all at the same time. And while the film isn’t officially affiliated with the franchise, it gives insight into the real town that inspired the author.

“I actually grew up partially in the Forks area,” Baur said of the origins of the project. “My family’s had a summer cabin since I was 3 years old … the people are really unique, and it’s so remote. One of the facts we learned along the way is that Forks is actually closer to outer space than it is to the nearest Wal-Mart! It’s 62 miles to outer space and 67 miles to the Wal-Mart in Sequim. It’s a very special, unique place.”

Over the last several years, tens of thousands of Twilighters have made the pilgrimage to Forks, a real-life Disneyland of all things Stephenie Meyer. But if you can’t make the long trip to the deep woods where the Cullen’s may live, “Twilight in Forks” will show you how the phenomenon was born — and whether vampires and werewolves could really be enjoying the region’s famously rain-soaked climate.

“The project was the instigation of us saying that we wanted to expose this really cool and unique area to the world through the lens of the ‘Twilight‘ phenomenon,” explained Baur. “The film can be pre-ordered through our Web site; it’s also available for pre-order on Amazon starting now, and it’ll be available at traditional retailers as well on October 15.”
